I am recently graduated as an Industrial Engineer at Universidad de Chile. I was a good student at university. Marketing and specially data mining were my favorite subject at university. Numerical models construction and data base work really like me.

I did my first and second internship at CMPC Maderas in 2006 and 2007 in the summer. My last internship was realized abroad of Chile, at Seidor Group in Barcelona, Spain. I did my thesis in the Customer Intelligent department at your company. It was a very satisfying experience and I learnt about so many marketing topics.

Movie Review: (500) Days of summer

“(500) Days of Summer” is a comedy romantic film. It was directed by Marc Webb and written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. It stars by Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom Hansen and Zooey Deschanel as Summer Finn. This movie is an independent film, for that it was premiered in The Sundace Film Festival in 2009, the largest independent cinema festival in the United States, It was received very well by the critics. Also, it was nominated for Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor at the Golden Globes this year.

Tom is a young architect, who has a boring jobs in a greeting card company, he is always looking for his true love, suddenly he knows Summer, the new assistant of the company. He immediately falls in love with her at the first sight and thinks that she would be the one, but Summer doesn´t believe in relationships or boyfriends. They become in more than just friends, but Tom wants a relationship.

The film is presented in a nonlinear narrative, as it jumps from various days within the 500 days of Tom and Summer's relationship. It was set in Los Angeles, California, and in the movie the protagonist, who is an architect, describe the buildings of this city.

I recommend this movie because it isn’t a classic love story movie. The non linear narrative is very interesting. The soundtrack of this movie is amazing and are so important in the develop of the story.

Film review: Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind

“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” was directed by Michel Gondry and written by Charlie Kaufman who also wrote “Being John Malkovich”. It stars Jim Carrey as Joel Barish, and Kate Winslet as Clementine Kruczynski. The film won an Oscar in 2005 for Best Writing, Original Screenplay.
The film is set in different places of the United States. The plot is about a couple, Clementine and Joel, who met in a very strange situation and fallen in love. After a time of relationship, they decided to end the romantic affaire, getting a treatment to erase each other from their memories. However during this process they realized that they were still in love but should be very difficult get back.
It is a near two hours film and it is necessary to be aware because sometimes became a little confused because almost the whole story happened inside the protagonist’s mind.
I strongly recommend “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, it has an excellent soundtrack and I also think that it is an opportunity to change the idea we have about Jim Carrey, who usually plays stupid characters in his films.

A long day................

Time ago, my mother went to San Pedro de Atacama for vacation and I kept in my house alone with my cat. This Saturday, my cat woke me up very early, around 7:30 he was crying very loudly, because he wanted to have breakfast. Then, I got up, went to the kitchen and prepared my cat’s food. I was very angry with him but If I didn’t do that he’d be crying all morning!!!!! After that I came back to bed and I tried to get sleep again.

Finally I woke up again around 11, turned on my laptop and read the news, I do this every day, because I love to be informed. Then I went to the kitchen and had breakfast, after that I took a shower . At 12:30 my boyfriend picked me up and we went to his house. When I left my house, my cat was sleeping, because he sleeps all day.

In my boyfriend’s house we had a barbecue, I ate a lot and the food was delicious . In the afternoon my boyfriend, his brother and I played Guitar Hero by XBox. It was very funny, first I was playing drums but we always lost for my fault . Finally I resigned, and played the bass, the most easy instrument in this game.

At night we went out, it was the birthday of my boyfriend´s friend. We had a really good time. This night I came back to my house very late, my cat was starving and crying more loudly than the morning. I fed him and went to bed at 4 A.M. This was a very long day.

Film review: The Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect was directed and written by Eric Bress and J. MackyeGruber in 2004. It stars Ashton Kutcher as Evan Treborn and Amy Smart as Kayleigh Miller. The film won in 2004 a Pegasus Audience Award in the Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film. The film also has two unrelated sequels named The Butterfly Effect 2 in 2006 and The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations in 2009.

The title make reference to a concept which says that a little change in the past, like the flap of a butterfly, could produce a great change in the present.

Evan suffered several traumatic experiences with his father and his uncle when he was a child. Frequently, he blacked out when he was in a stressful situation or when he remembered a past moment seeing a picture or reading his life´s diary. In those moments, he is able to revive past experiences, to modify them and alter his future and the future of his friends. The doctors said that he had a hereditary mental disease, the same problem that his father.

Due to his choices in the past when he has a flashback, his life change in the present. He became a prisoner for killing one of his friends, a disabled person because he lost one of his arms, etc. His objective is to find the way that his mother and his friends are fine. At the end, he decides to take a drastic decision to achieve this objective.

I recommend this film because is really interesting, alls the events happen too fast and you always will be attentive to the screen. If you like the drama films, you will enjoy it.

Braveheart

Braveheart was directed and starring by Mel Gibson. The film won five Academy Awards at the 68th Academy Awards, including the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director, and had been nominated for an additional five.
The film is set in Scotland, but the major battle scenes were shot in Ireland using members of the Irish Army Reserve as extras.
The epic drama film is an account of the life and times of medieval Scottish patriot William Wallace and, to a lesser degree, Robert the Bruce's struggle to unify his nation against its English oppressors. The story begins with young Wallace, whose father and brother have been killed fighting the English, being taken into the custody of his uncle, a nationalist and pre-Renaissance renaissance man. He returns twenty years later, a man educated both in the classics and in the art of war. There he finds his childhood sweetheart Murron, played by Catherine McCormack, the two quickly fall in love and marry in secret to avoid the custom of primae noctis. When an English soldier tries to rape Murron, Wallace fights off several soldiers and the two attempt to flee, but the village magistrate captures Murron. Declaring Murron's assault to be the same as if she had assaulted the King, the magistrate ties Murron to a pole and, in an attempt to draw Wallace out, executes her by slitting her throat. When Wallace rides back into the village moments later to find what has happened, he and the men in the village rise up against the magistrate and the English soldiers. The other villagers join him in destroying the English garrison, and thus begins the revolt against the English in what will eventually become full-fledged war. Wallace eventually leads his fellow Scots in a series of bloody battles that prove a serious threat to English domination and, along the way, has a hushed affair with the Princess of Wales, played by the French actress Sophie Marc.
Gibson plays his role with flamboyance, and cuts it with sly humor. He is an amazing battlefield strategist, inventing new strategies and weapons, outsmarting the English at every turn, leading his men into battle with his face painted blue, like a football fan.
I strongly recommend Braveheart. It creates a fictional world that is entertaining, and thrilling. It’s a nice story, full or romance and heroism.

The Last Station

Yesterday I was reading Arts & Letters section in mer.cl and I saw the title “Cien años de Tolstoi”, immediately I remembered the film called The Last Station, and how different it’s from other movies that I’d saw, because the history is not about absolute happiness or sadness, the end is a lesson for life without special effects.

The Last Station is a 2009 biographical film about Leo Tolstoy (characterized by Christopher Plummer). It was directed by Michael Hoffman and based on the same name novel by Jay Parini. The film show the unusual last days of Tolstoy's life.

Tolstoy had a successful and good life, also a long-standing and long marriage, but he was an idealist (he is opposed to the bad things in the world). This was the cause of odds with his wife Sofya Tolstoy (Helen Mirren) and her aristocratic and conventionally religious views. Tolstoy’s copyrights were the prize disputed by his secretary Vladimir Chertkov (Paul Giamatti) and his wife. He was the more famous person in Russia and in the whole world, thus he had to find the middle point between fame and life without materialism. At the end Tolstoy put his writings into the public domain, it was a blow to his desesperated wife. Until Tolstoy didn’t know how to deal with that and leave his wife and their house, to an undisclosed location where he can continue his work undisturbed, with the support of this daughter Masha (Kerry Condon) and his naïve young secretary Valentin Bulgakov (James McAvoy). After that health’s Tolstoy was worse, and he couldn’t move forward. He didn’t want to see his wife, while she waited for days at a train bagon. He finally relented and agreed to see his wife just a few minutes after he died, with more than 80 years and a terrible winter pneumonia Tolstoy died alongside his wife. The film ends with his death near the Astapovo train station.

An interesting question that I leave to you, is Why he left his home and his wife who shared his life for 48 years? Despite loving her so much, he let her go.

Whit this film Helen Mirren won the Best Actress award at the 2009 Rome International Film Festival for her performance.

Unfortunately I don’t see an early release (if this it’ll exists) of this film in Chile, so I leave a trailer to see, and if you want I give you a download link enjoy it :)

I am a qualified Civil Engineering Industry with Diploma in Hydraulic Engineering at the Catholic University, and I have been working at a Renewable Energy Company since January 2006, developing wind turbine site layout and select turbine configurations according to standards, power production, infrastructure and costs. Also I have been working closely with the R&D team and technicians in the field to create new solutions to wind farm integration challenges.

I have a very good level of English and a good knowledge of specific wind resource software such as Windpro and Windsim.

My favorite character

Juan Carlos Bodoque

He is a character from “31 minutos”, a Chilean Television program for children that was very famous between 2003 and 2008.

He is a small red rabbit with very long ears. He has black eyes and they have differences size and mobility . He is often wearing a t-shirt with lines black and white.

He is the most important journalist at his program beside of Tulio Triviño, the host. Juan Carlos is envious about Tulio and he hopes to become in the host of program someday. In his job, Bodoque report about environmental topics , his part of the program is called “La Nota Verde”

He comes from Titirilquen, a fictitious city. He has 68 brother and sisters. He and Tulio met in the scout, when they were kids.

He is very womanizer and has an addiction problem with horses gambling, he has a favorite horse is called “Tormenta China”, He always bet to her but she always lost the race. He has lost a lot of money for his addiction, almost a gangsters band tried to kill him and at 2004 Christmas, he bet his friends gifts and lost them.

Patronato

Do you want to go shopping? But you don´t have much money…… you must go to Patronato.

Patronato is a commercial neighborhood, is located in the northern part of Santiago, in the commune of Recoleta.

In this place, there are many small stores, which sell clothes, shoes, and fashion accessories like necklaces, scarves, rings, hats, etc. The most of the stores are for women. In this place the prices are cheaper than the malls, and also there are outlet store for many important brands. The heart of this neighborhood is the intersection of Patronato and Santa Filomena. At the end of Manzano street you can find independent designer stores.

The most of the stores are opened from 11:00 A.M to 7:30 or 8:00 P.M . from Monday to Friday, at Saturday they close more early, at 16:00 or 17:00 P.M. Sunday all stores are closed. I don´t recommend go there in Saturday morning because it is very crowded.

The most easiest way to go to Patronato is by subway. You need to take line 2, the yellow one and stop in Patronato station . Also you can go by bus.
